Back In The Day

Hip Hop culture, back in the day, became very well publicized by the media because of one fresh faced kid from Pennsylvania. The public liked him because of his music and because he was so cute and funny. See if you can guess who this mystery character is from a few clues. To be knowledgeable on Hip Hop news and music of the past makes you look informed, and on the edge about all aspects of Hip Hop. So let us begin the journey into the past.

Our mystery person was born in 1968 and from an early age, loved music. Later he met up with a guy at a party in 1987 and formed group. Do you have any ideas yet as to whom it could be? The first hit title had to do with rockin at a house, and it became a hit, going gold in 1988. Hip Hop culture was really impacted when he won an MTV (Music Television) Award for Best Rap. The release that won explained who the DJ was and who rapped in the group. Later the next year it was suspected his group might not survive in the Hip Hop music world because its music was changing to more of an aggressive style and beat.

In 1989, this fresh faced kid went into another area of performing - acting. He really liked in Hollywood and being seen on TV in the US every week. At the same time, he made another record, and its title reminded you of baseball. He really had a Hip Hop hit on his hands with this one. Other hits and awards followed him for the next seven years in his career. One such summertime hit rung the bell for the Hip Hop music industry in 1991 by getting a gold and platinum award. In 1992, their jazzy group won a Best Rap Performance award too. If you cannot figure it out, just keep reading a little more ... you may be surprised to find out the mystery person's identity.

In 1996, he rode a bullet into outer space in a box office movie hit. However, in 1997, along with his getting jiggy fame, our mystery man struck the big time in movies - MIB (Men in Black). Do you know who it is? It is rapper/actor Will Smith. Smith propelled himself into star status, and both Hip Hop and Rap benefited from his talent. In 1998 in addition to having a hit movie with Enemy of the State, he was given the prestigious NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) Outstanding Rap Artist Award. The awards for Hip Hop music and movies just keep coming for Will! Other awards came from the Peoples Choice Awards and the Grammy's.

Will Smith's role in Hip Hop gave a lot of recognition to the industry and the music of Hip Hop. Hip Hop music has changed from its early years but it is obvious Will Smith loves what he does, whether he gets jiggy with alien in a dance video, or dances as a Fresh Prince in Bel Air, he loves Hip Hop, and is a good mystery man of choice for Hip Hop.

Animal Abuse?.....Just a thought?

I was watching MIB (Men In Black) and I noticed one thing that I didn't catch the first time around. Frank the dog, who is disgusted as an alien of some kind, is supposed to be some grumpy annoying character to the MIB stars, Smith and Jones. Jones is in the middle of the side walk shaking this dog violently and I know its just a movie but it looks wrong! I hope they used a make believe dog and not a real one. That sux for the doggy if he really did get shaken like that.

I've never seen the movie but I'm sure it was fine. They have laws that say you can't abuse animals in movies. And some animal thing watches them I think when they are making the movie.

Star Wars Lego Review Set 8091 Republic Swamp Speeder

The Star Wars LEGO Swamp Speeder is part of the first wave of releases for Lego in 2010. This is a Limited Edition set which means you can only get it at Lego Shop At Home or specific stores (Target).

The set is a little small for the $29.99 price tag but that tends to happen with exclusive sets. There are 176 pieces and 5 minifigures so it is not a huge set. The Speeder itself is quite small and will be a deterrent for casual buyers. Collectors however will be attracted by the figure of Jedi Commander Barriss Offee as it is the first time she has been featured in a set.  This is a beautiful figure with purplish decoration on her face and a highly detailed torso.

Other figures in the set include a clone trooper, two battle droids and a super battle droid. The clone trooper is in what is regarded as phase two armor. That means it is not the original clone armor as featured in Episode 2 but the second version of the armor as featured in Episode Three. This armor is meant to serve as halfway between the original clone armor and that worn by the stormtroopers in episodes four five and six. For avid fans, this particular phase two clone Lego has a slightly newer design on its helmet and torso.

The speeder has a number of interesting features which may make up a little for the higher price bracket. As it is a swamp speeder wheels on the bottom of the model give the impression that the speeder is hovering across the surface. There are four flick fire missiles and there is a steering mechanism at the rear which controls the front wheels and missiles.

It's a great design and has a beautiful Exclusive Figure and if you can look past the high price point it is worth the purchase if you are a fan.

What's the difference between the "Freaks and Geeks" dvd set and yearbook edition?

i plan on buying one of the dvd sets for my sister on her birthday since it's one of her favorite shows. i tried comparing the 2 but i can't really find the answers i'm looking for. all i now is the dvd set has 6 discs and the yearbook has 8 discs.

That is the only difference I see too. I guess it is up to you wheather it is worth it or not.

Action = Success!

This Morning I was pondering on what I could write about! Like a shooting star falling from the sign, this email came into my inbox. It was written by the inspirational Mary Blackburn and targeted to the last group who attended the Mental Tool Box. But I would like to share this awesome message with you.

Congratulations on completing the Mental Toolbox Workshop, we have had lots of positive feedback from the group and we are delighted! We feel privileged to spend time with such quality people who want to improve all aspects of their life.

To change from where you are now to where you want to be will require ACTION.

There are two fundamental activities for success in any endeavour:

Doing the things you must do in order to be successful; and gaining the mindset that will allow you to become a success.

NO ACTION = NO SUCCESS

The Mental Toolbox gives you a look at what is possible for your life. This glimpse then invites those rare questions that most people simply don't ask themselves. What if I decide to set and reach higher goals? What if I decide to go for my dreams? What if I can change certain unpleasant things about myself? What if I can significantly make a difference in the lives of others? So, from this special sneak preview and these new questions, a new life begins to evolve. Deciding to use these techniques opens up a whole new world of potential and possibilities for you and for those you affect.

We want this program to be a success for you - and we know that means you will need to have a plan, and then methodically work that plan. It is the combination of the materials and your open attitude towards learning, driven by the diligent following of a plan that is right for you, that will make this program the kind of success we know you want it to be.

It is important that you set up some kind of sanctuary in your life that allows you to pull back and have peace and quiet to work on yourself. Your sanctuary may be a room in your house or a walk at dawn, it doesn't matter which - what matters is setting up the time to be alone with yourself.

If at all possible it is good to dedicate the same time each day to your inner growth so that you can develop a rhythm. Allow about 20 minutes. First thing in the morning is a great time - as you wake refreshed from the night's sleep you can place into your consciousness thoughts and feelings that will mould your day. You have a blank slate on which to write, relatively free of negative emotion. Take a few moments to consider your day. Visualise events flowing, feel your energy in control of what is moving towards you. If you are faced with a difficult situation that day, take a moment to breathe in, visualizing that situation and as you exhale, project light and love to the situation and see it responding positively to your energy.

Having set up your day it is important to maintain the energy. Any negative emotions or negative conflict will destroy your energy. So pick a few of your affirmations and repeat them to yourself from time to time. It can be one word - strength, love, whatever you want.

During the middle of the day, take a few moments to be with yourself. It is hard because there are always things to do. And yet a moment invested in your energy will save you endless time rushing and struggling. Look at the day and feel how it has gone, anchor the positive events to your inner feelings. By reviewing the successes, however slight, and making them part of your consciousness, you set up and affirm that the rest of the day will go well. It can be just arriving at work on time, completing a project, meeting with a friend, interacting with a work mate in a positive way. We often tend to see our lives as insignificant. They are not. Everything means something. Take time to honour your successes.

During this break, if you can't actually get out in nature, at least take a moment to look out at the wind, or at the trees and the sky. Visualise nature's energy flowing through your body, washing away any tiredness or negativity, and refreshing you. This moment will boost the energy of your body. See everything flowing exactly as you want.

At the end of each day create time for reflection - a time to go back over, to study again the things you've learned and the things you've done each day. As you use the techniques learnt on this course, you will want to spend time reflecting on their significance for you. Thanks, Mary, for the wonderful reminder.

When viewers associate a name, slogan or a design with a product/ service, it marks the formation of a brand. The degree of brand recognition being induced by such name/ mark henceforth determines the popularity of a brand. However, the transformation of a name/ mark to a brand takes time. Brand recognition is a process that is not built overnight. It is created with continued use of such products or services along with advertising and media promotions. A brand is a recognizable symbol that relates to a particular product/ service and creates a certain degree of anticipation around it. The representation of brand particularly plays a major role in defining its popularity.

So, what represents a brand? A brand is represented by a name, term, sign, symbol, design or a combination of some of these. A logo by far plays a major role in the identification of a brand. Viewers relate a brand name through its logo. For instance, the logo of Nike, Samsung, Coca Cola and many others trigger immediate recognition of the company’s brand name. A mere glimpse of the swoosh symbol on a sports cap is enough to determine it as a Nike product.

A good logo design can go a long way in facilitating the brand building process of a product/ service. As a logo is designed to register immediate recognition with the consumers, it should be unique. Uniqueness of a logo is necessary to avoid confusion among the target consumers. In a competitive market, it is uniqueness that helps a brand stand apart from the rest. A unique font, a distinct color, a strong message, an eye-catching design, or anything radically distinctive can work wonders for a logo. For instance, the distinct shade of pink in Hutch triggers immediate recognition of the brand. According to its designing firm, the color pink is brave, confident and exuberant and goes with the product. Hutch has a wide market in India, where most of the brands use the primary shades of blue, red and green in their logos. However, it’s the unusual shade of pink that stands tall amongst all of them owing to its distinctness. Powered by nation wide advertising, Hutch has successfully re-branded itself with just a change in color of their logo.

Apart from being unique, a logo should represent the brand/ company appropriately. A great design with a strong inherent meaning can be just the right thing for the brand. For instance, the arrow between the letters E and X of the well-known FedEx logo goes a long way in emphasizing the speed in its service. The USP of any courier company is its speed of delivery to the right destination. FedEx being a courier company is no different. The subliminal arrow in its logo design not only enhances the credibility of the logo but also gives the brand a better outlook altogether.

Logo designing is a work of prime importance for any organization. Companies should get this done by experts who have specialized in designing great logos. Though uniqueness and relevance are primary considerations, a good logo should retain its influential value and integrity irrespective of its size of reproduction and context of usage. An uncomplicated look at marketing for new comers

How many people look into the world of marketing with fear of failure for lack of understanding? It is easy to over complicate things when we don’t have a good grasp of the basics. There are elements of marketing that are a part of everyday life.

Example: Let’s say that you just returned from a vacation, you had a great time and you want to tell a friend about your trip.

Consider this simple idea from a marketing perspective.

1. Your product is something of value that you want to share with others.
2. Your Target Market is those people who will be pleased to hear about your experience. You also know that there are those people that could care less. As a result you will seek out those you would like to talk to and bypass those who won’t be interested.
3. Your Marketing Activity is the action of contacting your friends.
4. Your Choice of Media is the option of calling, e-mailing, using Facebook, or sending a snail mail letter.
5. Your Presentation is the part where you tell your story.

Conclusion:

You had a product to sell, you identified someone that would be interested and you told your story. It does not matter what happens from here. Some people will be glad for you and others; not so much. No big deal. There might be someone who had “By In” and they will tell someone else about your experience.

In the real world of marketing there are only so many people that will have “By In.” You know up front that is only a limited percentage of people that will be interested in your offer.

When you have something to sell you:

1. Determine who will be interested.
2. Identify were to find them.
3. Choose a method of contact.
4. Share your message.

Keeping in mind the basics, you are now faced with the task of developing a quality presentation. This part does not have to be so difficult. You might look around for some examples of those who are successfully marketing something similar to your offer. Keep it simple and stay on point. You must make an impression at a glance. If your offer is confusing no one will take the time to sort it out.

Today’s most successful online marketers are using a method that is simple yet brilliant. Begin with the understanding that everyone with a business opportunity to offer is saying that it would be foolish not to sign up with them. That is a not the field of battle you want to enter into.

Most people who enter into network marketing are ultimately looking for the opportunity that will take them to their happy place. (Whatever that is.) While the quality of the opportunity is important it is more important that people know they can do what it takes to make it work.

When people are hurting for income and are looking for change they are NOT just looking for another opportunity. They are looking for real solutions that will improve their life style, pay some bills or get out from under their current job. They are looking for someone with answers who can give them the direction they need.

Start with information on how to fix the problem. Today’s top earners in network marketing are leading with offers for free information that is consistent with the needs of the majority of network marketers. This “Free Gift” of information needs to be something of proven quality. When presenting solid information you are gaining the credibility you need to attract those who are seeking a legitimate opportunity.

Problem / Solution

Consider a person who wants to build a swimming pool in the back yard as a do it yourself project. They don’t start by installing a diving board. They look for an expert that can tell them what they need. You come along and give them enough information to prove that you are the person for the job.

Now that you have demonstrated that you can show them how to dig a hole they will need a shovel, and a wheelbarrow to do the job. Your goal is to establish a relationship and provide the necessary tools. The more you can contribute to the task of digging the hole the more valuable you are. As the project moves forward you continue to provide tools and training. Note: Your primary business is in selling diving boards, pool toys and water chemicals. At this point it is an easy choice for the customer to rely on you for the rest of his pool needs.

I believe you get the idea. So let’s break this down from the marketing perspective.

1. You know what others need to know about building a viable business.
2. You give them a gift to demonstrate your ability to assist them.
3. You offer the tools they need for the job at a bargain price.
4. You have the Business Opportunity that they need if they don’t already have one.

Where to sell surplus toys?

I have about 500 new educational toys, from a failed business venture. They are not returnable to the dealer we got them from, and I do not have the time to sell the items as individual pieces on Ebay. Any suggestions on where I could sell these things as a lot? They are all really nice, High Quality toys from current toy companies - they just didn't sell like we hoped, and are no longer in the toy biz.

Try day care centers, especially home day cares. They don't get much in the way of discounts.

If they're not too much individually, box the same ones together and sell them in groups to busy moms. When I was a DT consultant, I used "Birthdays always come at the least convenient times, when you're sick, have a big project, can't bear the thought of a 6 pm trip to the toy store. Buy a set of these and you'll be ready for the next 5 birthday parties your child is invited to."
