Comic Book
I've been a fan of comics for as long as I remember, and even before I could read I'd love to flip through a comics and sit in awe at the colorful images of super-heroes. There are three iconic figures in comics that' have been around for 40 years or longer and I'll briefly mention them and what I think makes them so popular.
Batman
Also know as "The Dark Knight", Batman has been a big favorite since his First Appearance in Detective Comics #27. The character's background has become darker as time go on, particularly after Frank Miller got a hold of him in the eighties, but even in the beginning, Batman's been different. With no Super Powers, only incredible acrobatic and martial arts abilities stand between him and the forces of evil on Gotham City's streets. Well, that and the utility belt. Batman has been a favorite to many for years, and is still very popular to this day. With over 5 films made about the character in the past few decades, Batman is an instantly recognizable character. The darkness within him speaks to readers and it makes a change from the squeaky clean reputation of other Super Heroes.
Superman
Superman has been around since Action Comics #1, when Superman's native home of Krypton was blown to bits in a planetary calamity and his father sent him to earth as a baby. Ma and Pa Kent found him, took him in as their own son, and quickly learned of his unique abilities. Superman stands for peace, for freedom, and justice in the American way. This is what is so appealing about Superman. He stands for hope, and he stands for good and purity.
Spider-Man
Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man spun his web in the imaginations of many readers after he first appeared in 1963, and even today he is as exciting and popular as ever. The coolest thing about Spider-Man was his alter-ego, Peter Parker, was just a regular teenage goofball who by chance become one of Earth's greatest heroes. In the comics even though he had super strength and the power to leap like a spider, he had real world problems like asking out girls who never knew he existed or getting messed around by school bullies. This made Peter Parker real.
These characters have been and will remain popular comic book icons for years to come.
Geoffry loves comics and reads them whenever he can. He is currently working for a mobile disc jockey service in Atlanta and dreams of the day when someone will tell him the secret of how to win the lottery guaranteed!
Books a aspiring comic book artist must get ?
I'm an aspiring comic book artist who is hoping to create and get a new comic book published sometimes in the future, and was wondering what books should I get to help me? The theme of mine will be about an indian girl wanting to be like a hero of legend, even after finding out he was a fake. There will be allot of kick butting.
Anyways any good art book suggestions ?
Most any art book will help you with your art, but for books about how to make a comic, you should get Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics, and Will Eisner's Comics & Sequential Art.
Understanding Comics is not a teaching manual, but it's an in depth investigation into what a comic actually is, and how your mind processes information. It won't show you how to do anything, but it will open your mind and show you what can be done. I've heard of companies using it as mandatory reading for computer programmers and systems designers to get them to open their minds up.

Will Eisner's Comics & Sequential Art is THE book on how to make comics. The language that comics use was basically created by Eisner. He certainly wasn't the first person to draw a comic, but he was the closest thing to DaVinci that comics have, contributing a mountain of techniques and methods.
