Try to picture a hospital scenario. When we think of nurses or medical practitioners we always think of them in their clean, white uniform. Athens, Greece: The History, The Culture And The Amazing Ancient Sights

The History of Athens is one of the longest of any city in Europe and in the world. Athens has been continuously inhabited for over 3,000 years, becoming the leading city of Ancient Greece in the first millennium BC; its cultural achievements during the 5th century BC laid the foundations of western civilization.

During the Middle Ages, the city experienced decline and then recovery under the Byzantine Empire, and was relatively prosperous during the Crusades, benefiting from Italian trade.

After a long period of decline under the rule of the Ottoman Empire, Athens re-emerged in the 19th century as the capital of the independent Greek state.

Some information about "the Classical Athens"
Prior to the rise of Athens, the city of Sparta considered itself the leader of the Greeks, or hegemon. In 499 BC Athens sent troops to aid the Ionian Greeks of Asia Minor, who were rebelling against the Persian Empire (see Ionian Revolt). This provoked two Persian invasions of Greece, both of which were defeated under the leadership of the Athenian soldier-statesmen Miltiades and Themistocles.

In 490 the Athenians, lead by Miltiades, defeated the first invasion of the Persians, guided by the king Darius at the Battle of Marathon. In 480 the Persians returned under a new ruler, Xerxes. The Persians had to pass through a narrow strait to get to Athens. A call had been sent via a runner to Sparta for help.

The Spartans were in the middle of a religious festival, and so could only send three hundred men. The 300 Spartans and their allies blocked the narrow passageway from the 200,000 men of Xerxes (the Battle of Thermopylae). They held them off for a number of days, but eventually all but one Spartan was killed (see Aristodemus (Spartan)). This forced the Athenians to evacuate Athens, which was taken by the Persians and seek the protection of their fleet.

Subsequently the Athenians and their allies, lead by Themistocles had defeated the still vastly larger Persian navy at sea in the Battle of Salamis. It is interesting to note that Xerxes had built himself a throne on the coast in order to see the Greeks defeated. Instead, the Persians were routed. Sparta's hegemony was passing to Athens, and it was Athens that took the war to Asia Minor. These victories enabled it to bring most of the Aegean and many other parts of Greece together in the Delian League, an Athenian-dominated alliance.

The period from the end of the Persian Wars to the Macedonian conquest marked the zenith of Athens as a center of literature, philosophy (see Greek philosophy) and the arts (see Greek theatre).

In this society, the political satire of the Comic poets at the theaters, had a remarkable influence on public opinion.

Some of the most important figures of Western cultural and intellectual history lived in Athens during this period: the dramatists Aeschylus, Aristophanes, Euripides and Sophocles, the philosophers Aristotle, Plato and Socrates, the historians Herodotus, Thucydides and Xenophon, the poet Simonides and the sculptor Phidias.

The leading statesman of this period was Pericles, who used the tribute paid by the members of the Delian League to build the Parthenon and other great monuments of classical Athens. The city became, in Pericles's words, "the school of Hellas".

The greater prominent activity for tourists in the area is educational strolling. As a important place, there is a lot inside that one can discover and learn from. The Groves is Chester's premiere open space - a vast field with its own riverside promenade. You can also take water vessels along the river and tour Chester as you run down river. You can also stroll through the Grosvenor Park, a 19th century park that features a Victorian layout. Grosvenor Park is one of the biggest metropolis parks outside the industrial base of England.

Mouth watering - a word that characterises the menu of Chester's finest restaurants. Chester believes in the quality of their local produce. Here, you can pick fresh fruits and vegetables ready to serve in your plate. If that is not enough, you can wait out until the Chester Food and Drink festival, which is a party of 80 restaurant exhibitors bringing together the best of what Chester has to offer. Notable restaurants in Chester include the Blackhouse Grill, the Dene Hotel, and Katie's Tea Rooms. The Watergate Street is the place to chill out and meet the friendly locals.

The best entertainment in Chester lies in its festivals - and they have quite a collection of festivals. The Roman festival celebrates the metropolis's Roman heritage. Held once a month, you can experience the Roman roots of the center up close and personal. From June to July, view the great mystery plays, one of the oldest running play cycles in the world. The Chester Music festival opens with these mystery plays. That is why June to July is the best time to visit Chester because there is something new going on. Chester also has exciting events for the sport enthusiast, especially those who are into horse racing and football.

Chester has a little bit of everything for everyone. From fabulous food, famous sights, and fabulous events, Chester's habitat in England as a memorable municipality is further expressed in the of the metropolis. Not only will one celebrate its glorious history, but also visitors will come out impressed of the borough's evolution to a prominent tourist municipal.

With "Ghost Rider" and "Silver Surfer" now coming onto the big screens film adaptation, would you agree to the idea of making a "Marvel Superhero alliance" franchise? If so, which characters would you prefer to be on the movie?

I doubt that it would happen, not that it's a bad idea. I just think Marvel is making more liscensing the characters to studios individually.

I like most your line up, but Halle Berry never impressed me as Storm and I didn't like Elektra in the movies (but I didn't like the Daredevil movie and I loved the DD comics)

I'd add Iron Man, supposedly has a movie in the planning stages.

Choosing a Proper Shoes for your Mens Suits

The benchmark of a well-dressed man is on his footwear he chooses to go with his mens suits. Your well tailored mens suits would be useless if you wear scuffed or worn shoes.

Now a days, when we are talking about mens suits, as many people says trends come and go, and since formal shoes are worn a few time each year, it is best to choose a classic style of mens shoes.

There are two categories of mens suits shoes like slip-ons and lace-ups. A classic lace-up are ideal for most formal occasions. A closed lace shoes are also preferred over open laced shoes. A closed lace-up are what we call a shoes that have a V shape where they get tied together. And the open lace shoes have more of a parallel shape where they are tied together. While slip-ons are more casual, there are certain types of slip-ons that can go with mens suits.

In formal lace-ups has also a varieties, a cap-, moc-, plain and split toes and wingtips. Split and moc-toes are considered less formal than cap-and plain-toes. And the most formal of all is the wingtips. Experts advice that you can wear a less formal shoes during charity balls, Proms, and funerals. On the other hand, wear the most formal shoes when you are attending to a formal occasion like a night at the opera or when you are attending for a wedding party.

When we talking about the color of the shoes, in all formal events you shoes must be on black. As we all know when a man is on his mens suits the shoes must be on black. Blacks shoes do go with more mens suits colors and appear more formal than their brown counterparts.

Moreover, try to choose smooth and shiny leather shoes over Suede and nubuck. The latter type is considered to be less formal.

When you are wearing your mens suits it is important that you shoes and belt go together. Leather soled shoes are always preferred over rubber soled shoes. And try to wear thin socks that match the color of your trousers. If you are wearing a tan suit, your socks should match the color of your shoes. Some suggest to pick up socks as you would choose a tie, because these are the items that bring the whole outfit together

To choose the right shoes, match the shoes to the formality of the mens suits, find flat-fronted shoes for mens suits, and pick out square-toed shoes for slacks or jeans. Find men's shoes that are appropriate for every occasion that are appropriate for your mens suits.

You should choose something that you really like and is stylish which you can often wear. You should also choose only those shoes that suit your personality and tastes. Choose some shoes that are acceptable for all occasions. In this way you can avoid going to a party wearing your sports shoes, or avoid scurrying to the store to buy the right shoe for an occasion. Keep a note of the following essential things relating to men's shoes because it can help you from lot of embarrassment and harassment at the same time.
